What is mounting in microscopy?

Posted October 20, 2021

Answer

Mounting in microscopy means placing the samples on glass slide for microscopic observation. It holds the specimen in place (either by the weight of the cover slip or, in the case of a wet mount, by surface tension) and protects the specimen from dust and accidental contact. Mounting is often critical for successful viewing.
