What is targeted next-generation sequencing (NGS)?

Posted May 9, 2020

Answer

Targeted next-generation sequencing involves applying NGS to only specific regions of interest in a genome. Since it does not involve sequencing the whole genome, targeted NGS can be useful to reduce the cost and time required for sequencing, as well as the amount of data that needs to be stored and analyzed.
