What kind of cells does BrdU (Bromodeoxyuridine) stain?

Posted September 3, 2021

Answer

BrdU (Bromodeoxyuridine) stains proliferating cells. As a thymidine analog, BrdU is incorporated into replicating DNA to study cell proliferation rates in several varieties of species including mammalian cells and plants. The proliferating cells are detected using anti-BrdU antibodies.
