Where are transferases found in the cell?

Posted September 7, 2021

Answer

Transferases are a very large family of over 400 distinct enzymes, with multiple roles in cellular activity and behavior. Although present throughout the cell, the majority of transferases are found in the cytosol of the cell. Some types (typically associated with cellular metabolic pathways) are found in high concentrations within organelles such as the mitochondria and Golgi bodies.
