How do I stain cells with propidium iodide?

Posted November 17, 2022

Answer

To stain cells with propidium iodide (PI), first you ideally must make sure you are using dead cells in your experiment. However, you may also simply stain all the cells you are using, and see which ones stained and which didn’t. PI stains dead cells red, so that means the rest of the cells that aren’t red are unstained and living.
