How do lipids get in the plasma membrane?

Answer
Lipids are large molecules that are generally insoluble in water. Most lipids get into enterocytes or intestinal absorptive cells by simple diffusion across the plasma membrane. Some lipids enter the enterocyte via a specific fatty acid transporter protein present in the plasma membrane.
