Answer

Three common examples of Gel Electrophoresis include:

  • TAE Agarose Gel Electrophoresis – This gel electrophoresis technique is used for the separation of DNA. TAE buffer, which contains Tris base, acetic acid and EDTA, facilitates the movement of nucleic acids through the agarose matrix.
  • TBE and Denaturing PAGE (polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis) – This gel electrophoresis technique is used for separating RNA.
  • SDS PAGE or Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate-Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis – This is a denaturing gel electrophoresis technique mostly used for identifying and separating proteins.
