What are the similarities between cleavage and cell division?

Posted November 30, 2023

Answer

There are multiple similarities between cleavage and cell division. One similarity is that both cleavage and cell division are processes that occur within cells. Both involve the division of a parent cell into two or more daughter cells. Thus, genetic material is distributed among the daughter cells. Additionally, both cleavage and cell division occur in eukaryotic cells. Both processes also involve the formation of the mitotic spindle, to separate the chromatids during cell division.
