What are the similarities between protein kinase A and protein kinase C?

Posted June 15, 2023

Answer

There are various similarities between protein kinase A and protein kinase C. One similarity is that both protein kinases phosphorylate proteins on serine and threonine residues, and are classified as AGC kinases. Another similarity is that they both have significant roles in several signal transduction cascades in living organisms. Protein kinase A and protein kinase C both consist of two subunits as a regulatory domain and catalytic domain. Another similarity is that both PKA and PKC are regulated by binding to molecules that trigger their activation.
