Posted March 27, 2024

Answer

When acetylcholine binds to nicotinic receptors it:

  • Facilitates the release of norepinephrine and adrenaline from the adrenal glands
  • Activates the sympathetic system by releasing norepinephrine
  • Facilitates the contraction of skeletal muscle
  • Nicotinic receptors play a role in long-term and working memory as well as memory formation, retrieval, and consolidation.
