What is a hybridoma cell used for?

Posted July 21, 2022

Answer

Hybridoma cell lines are used for creating mAbs (monoclonal antibodies). MAbs are used in diagnostics such as the detection of cancer. Additionally, they are used for cancer therapy, tissue and cell studies, and drug discovery research. These cells multiply infinitely and can be used to create an infinite number of a specific antibody. This makes hybridoma cells very useful and important as they are used to help save lives. It is important to note that hybridoma cells are formed by the fusion of an antibody produced by a B cell and an immortal myeloma cell.
