How do ionic detergents affect protein molecules?

Posted July 28, 2021

Answer

Ionic detergents are capable of denaturing protein molecules irreversibly by breaking the intra- and intermolecular interactions. This alters the protein’s charge and structure and destroys their inherent biological activity.
