What is transferase naming nomenclature?

Posted September 9, 2021

Answer

Transferase naming nomenclature is based on "donor:acceptor grouptransferase."

Take the example of methylamine:L-glutamate N-methyltransferase. This is the normative name for the transferase methylamine-glutamate N-methyltransferase, where methyltransferase is the EC category, methylamine is the donor, and L-glutamate is the acceptor.
