What are biomolecules?

Biomolecules encompass all non-living organic substances that play a key role in the structure and function of living organisms. They are also involved in the metabolic processes and maintenance of living organisms. The four major types of biomolecules include proteins, carbohydrates, nucleic acid, and lipids. Each of these biomolecule types has a distinct suite of functions.
