What are the advantages of size exclusion chromatography?

Posted August 23, 2023

Answer

It is excellent for the separation of large molecules from small molecules with a minimal volume of eluate. Additionally, different solutions can be used without interfering with the filtration process, while protecting the activity of the particles being separated. Another advantage is that SEC provides short and well-defined separation times, as well as narrow bands which result in high sensitivity. There is no sample loss since the solute does not go through the stationary phase.
