What are the advantages of using RNA probes for performing in situ hybridization?

Posted March 27, 2024

Answer

One advantage of RNA probes is that they typically exhibit higher thermal stability compared to DNA probes. RNA probes are also highly specific in their binding to complementary target sequences due to the strict base-pairing requirements of RNA-DNA hybridization. Due to their single-stranded nature, RNA probes can penetrate tissues effectively.
