What are the disadvantages of End-point PCR?
Posted June 19, 2024
Answer
Endpoint PCR may lack precision and sensitivity, making it challenging to detect low-abundance targets accurately. This can result in false-negative or false-positive results. Another con is that endpoint PCR provides limited resolution, making it difficult to distinguish closely related DNA fragments. Additionally, endpoint PCR primarily relies on size-based discrimination of PCR products and only provides qualitative data. It also provides limited resolution and the dynamic range of endpoint PCR is restricted.
