What Does Dehydrogenase Do in Cellular Respiration?

Posted March 30, 2023

Answer

Dehydrogenase is a type of oxidoreductase enzyme. During cellular respiration it removes hydrogen ions and electrons from intermediates of the cycle. The hydrogen ions and electrons are passed to the coenzyme NAD forming NADH. This occurs in both Krebs cycle and glycolysis.
