What is the purpose of cell labeling?

Posted January 16, 2024

Answer

The main purpose of cell labeling is to visualize cells more clearly to identify and study subcellular structures such as organelles. Some of the more advanced cell labeling techniques allow researchers to study biochemical processes that take place in cells by tracking proteins and nucleic acids in living cells.

Cells can be labeled several different ways including the use of fluorescent fusion proteins, fluorescent dyes, and immunolabeling.
