Posted April 14, 2023

Answer

There are two types of mixtures – heterogeneous and homogeneous. Solutions are a type of homogenous mixture. The technique used to separate mixtures and solutions depends on whether the mixture is heterogeneous or homogeneous.

Heterogeneous mixtures can be separated by:

  • Hand-picking
  • Threshing
  • Winnowing
  • Sieving
  • Filtration
  • Separating funnel
  • Distillation
  • Magnetic separation

Homogeneous mixtures can be separated by:

  • Distillation
  • Solvent Extraction
  • Crystallization
  • Chromatography
  • Electrophoresis
