How does the nucleus communicate with the cytoplasm?

Posted July 12, 2023

Answer

Ions, small polar molecules, and macromolecules are able to travel between the cytoplasm and nucleus through channels known as nuclear pore complexes (NPC). Each nuclear pore consists of a large complex of proteins which allow these substances to diffuse into or out of the nucleus.
