Tandem dyes are a unique class of fluorescent molecules that consist of two different covalently linked fluorophores, a donor (e.g. PE or APC) and a longer-wavelength emitting fluorescence acceptor (e.g. Texas Red, Cy5, Cy7, iFluor® 594 or iFluor® 750). APC- iFluor® 750 tandem is an excellent replacement to the commonly used APC-Cy7 with improved FRET efficiency and signal. Its primary absorption peak is at 651 nm with emission peak at ~780 nm. AAT Bioquest also offers its preactivated APC- iFluor® 750 tandem to facilitate the APC- iFluor® 750 tandem tandem conjugations to antibodies and other proteins such as streptavidin and other secondary reagents. Our preactivated APC- iFluor® 750 is ready to conjugate, giving much higher yield than the conventionally tedious SMCC-based conjugation chemistry. In addition, our preactivated APC- iFluor® 750 tandem is conjugated to a protein via its amino group that is abundant in proteins while SMCC chemistry targets the thiol group that must be regenerated by the reduction of antibodies.
