Bis-Tris Buffer (1 M, 6.5 pH) Preparation and Recipe
Bis-Tris buffer is used in molecular biology for applications involving both proteins and nucleic acids. Similar to tris-buffers, it has good buffer capacity and can be stored at room temperature. Bis-Tris interacts with several metal ions including Cu and Pb.

  • Prepare 800 mL of dH2O in a suitable container.
  • Add # of Bis-Tris to the solution
  • Starting pH without HCl is 9.90. Concentrated HCl is used to adjust the pH. Filter sterilize or autoclave before use or storage.
  • Add dH2O until the volume is 1 L.
